AIDA Cruises

In 1996, it was “cast off” for the first time for an AIDA ship. With the idea of establishing cruises as a modern, informal lifestyle product, the company has since inspired completely new target groups for a vacation on the high seas. Today, AIDA Cruises is one of the largest tourism companies in Germany.

AIDA voyages lead to more than 250 ports around the world, in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Asia, the Orient or directly from Germany to Scandinavia, Northern and Western Europe or the Baltic States. A vacation with AIDA offers guests of all generations a varied on-board program, a wide range of culinary delights, premium entertainment, unforgettable shore excursions, numerous sports activities and spacious wellness areas to relax in. The trademark of the AIDA ships is the characteristic kissing mouth on the bow. The modern AIDA fleet currently comprises 11 cruise ships, including two newbuilds that can be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

For many years, the company has been investing in a future-proof and more sustainable cruise market and is committed to better protection of marine ecosystems, economical use of resources and the use of new propulsion technologies. In addition to the use of shore power and liquefied natural gas (LNG), AIDA Cruises has already demonstrated in practice the possibility of using alternative energy sources such as biofuel or batteries to power its cruise ships. Together with various partners, AIDA Cruises is working intensively on further solutions for using regenerative and synthetic fuels in the future. As part of Carnival Corporation & plc, AIDA Cruises is aiming for climate-neutral ship operations for its fleet by 2050.

AIDA Cruises and Hamburg as a cruise location are linked by a long-standing and trusting partnership. More than every second cruise guest in Hamburg is an AIDA guest. Accordingly, the German market leader in the cruise segment is the key growth driver for the Port of Hamburg. Seven years ago, AIDA Cruises began offering winter cruises from/to Hamburg to Europe’s most beautiful cities and has thus developed the Hanseatic city into a year-round destination. Overall, AIDA Cruises generates the greatest cruise line-related added value for the Hanseatic city.

The commitment of AIDA Cruises in the Elbe metropolis goes far beyond the departures, which account for an average of 45 percent of all cruise calls in Hamburg. As a responsible company, AIDA Cruises is also involved in social, cultural and sporting activities.By supporting maritime events such as the Hamburg Harbour Birthday and the Hamburg Cruise Days, the German market leader has been working with the city for many years to ensure Hamburg’s international appeal as a tourist destination.
