First impressions count. This applies particularly for cruise passengers who travel to Hamburg in order to step aboard their ship or finish their cruise here. As a service metropolis, the Hanseatic City pursues high standards in matters of service quality. Hamburg Cruise Net e.V. contributes ideas and inspiration in order to develop tailored offerings for a smooth arrival and departure experience for passengers. It is crucial that the three centrally located cruise terminals can be easily reached. The airport is only 10 kilometres away from the city centre and is linked to local public transport by the S-Bahn (urban railway). Parking spaces at special cruise rates are located in direct proximity to each of the three terminals. Some companies offer extra services, such as valet parking or vehicle transfers to other ports. One of the association’s essential areas of activity is to improve processes and optimise inter-modal networking outside the cruise terminal, at Hamburg central station and at the airport.

Compared to other major German cities, Hamburg has the reputation of being particularly customer-friendly. The association is committed to making sure that this positive image takes root in the field of cruise shipping too. The “Welcome Culture” project advertised by the municipal marketing organisations is supported by means of special measures on behalf of cruise passengers. In order to be able provide competent, up-to-date information in response to queries, good communication between actors is a pre-requisite. The association views this as an essential guiding principle within the network. A further aim is to enthuse cruise passengers for Hamburg and its abundant cultural landscape.
